Using a lightweight patching compound (Spackle) to fill small holes is really easy. Overfill each hole with Spackling using a small flexible putty knife or your finger. Once its dry, smooth with a damp sponge. No dust or damage to the wall paint. And no mess either! I like to use DAP DryDex. It's pink when it goes on and white when it's dry, which means it's ready to paint!
